Custom Rebuilt Home In Historic Willow Glen

When our sellers moved to San Jose from Texas, they decided that living in Willow Glen offered them the perfect community that they were seeking for their family.

1163 Cherry Avenue fit all their parameters, but they also knew that the home was going to need a major renovation to fit their lifestyle.  With architect, Brad Cox and well-respected builder Justin Warner of Black Bear Builders, a masterpiece was created.

In 2019 they rebuilt their home located in the heart of historic Willow Glen.  The new design met their needs as busy parents, and their children needs as well. Beautiful spaces were designed with everyone in mind.  Architectural gathering spaces were created both inside and out.

Visually the exterior of the home was transformed to have incredible curb appeal.  It became a place with a welcoming front porch for sitting and socializing with friends and neighbors.  In Willow Glen this social space is a must.

The backyard was transformed into a retreat for outdoor entertaining.  Hard scaping, water fountains, outdoor grilling kitchen and a plumbed gas firepit were installed.  The all-season turf even has a watering and drainage system that functions to keep the space sanitary.

1163 Cherry Avenue is in the heart historical Willow Glen and is just a block away from Willow Park where there are playgrounds, baseball fields, BBQ facilities and even lawn bowling.  Lincoln Avenue also known as the downtown Willow Glen is also within an easy walking distance.  Lincoln Ave. is lined with sidewalk cafes, Italian delis, home design stores and clothing boutiques. Starbucks, Peet’s, Noah's Bagels and others have established outposts as well, yet most of the stores on Lincoln Avenue continue to be locally owned and operated businesses.

One of Willow Glen’s longest standing traditions is the celebration of the holiday season. Homes throughout the community place a tree decorated with lights on their front lawn. The streets along Willow Ave from Meridian to Lincoln go all out with street themes. Cars, trolleys, and horse drawn carriages travel these streets to see the Festival of Lights. On Glen Erie children are always thrilled to see the oversized reindeer and Santa’s sleigh.

Today, Willow Glen still boasts canopy trees on its streets and a Norman Rockwell-style charm that make it one of San Jose's most desirable neighborhoods.  If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind home, built with the finest quality of finishes, then you owe it to yourself to take a look at this home.  Willow Glen is the perfect place to live, work or retire in.  Call us today to learn more.
